This book is designed as a supplement to a traditional introductory Latin textbook.
Step-by-step, this book explains a system for learning how to identify the mood and tense denoted by Classical Latin's indicative and subjunctive conjugational forms without having to memorize the paradigms in which they are traditionally presented. Those who learn this system reduce by over 90% the number of forms that need be memorized in order to be able to identify the mood and tense denoted.
The sequence in which The Path introduces the forms approximates the sequence in which traditional elementary Latin textbooks introduce them. When used in conjunction with such a textbook, the student uses that text to learn the grammar and translations of the target forms the vocabulary introduced in that lesson. But instead of memorizing the conjugational paradigm(s) presented in the lesson, you learn how to divide the forms into their respective morphemes, categorize them according to an abbreviated notation system, and memorize only the minimum amount of information needed. In regard to the Latin conjugations, The Path reduces the memory load by over 90%.
