Hallie and Annie are identical twins. Like many twins, the two used to take the other's place and see if they could fool the people they were with. By the time they were in highs school they had each other's routine down to a science. The girls are identical in almost every way except that Annie is a lesbian, and Hallie is straight. In fact, the reality of this difference occurred when Annie asks Hallie to check her apartment while she is away for several weeks.
On one such check, Hallie catches the tail end of a voice message from another woman asking her out for a date. A flash back to their high school days, Hallie decides to stand in for her sister, just to find out what a lesbian date might be like. She was quite aware of the sexual side of sapphic love but what do two lesbians talk about on a date. She wanted to know about that. Plotting her strategy, Hallie tries to think of ways to deflect personal questions, the woman and her sister may have discussed.
Finally, she dressed in her sisters' clothes so she projected the proper image the woman would surely expect to see from her sister. The first crisis, Hallie had forgotten to account for, she had no idea what the woman looked like, hoping by all that is holy the woman remembered what her sister looked like. As the date arrives at the predetermined meeting place, Hallie is fearful she'll not be convincing and this whole mess will blow up in her face.
