In the spring of 1978, and Poodle and his best friend, the Milkman, couldn't have been any happier about being laid-off, if they had planned it themselves. But before either man could beer burp the alphabet, they were scooped up and put to work by Poodle's wife, doing cold call sales for the upcoming centennial parade. Cold call sales are serious work. But when did work ever corral either man's keen sense of distraction? Milk quickly finds himself all-time pitcher at an orphanage kickball game. Not to be outdone, payphone punching Poodle gets himself arrested while trying to buy a band-aid. And they still have fishing left on their agenda. However, not all is fun and games. Foul intent lurks in the shadows of the city. There are those seeking ill-gotten gain while hiding in the veil of distraction called The Sycamore Centennial Parade.
