Alice Blackwater is a witch. Outcast by the town and accused of causing the mysterious disappearance of her husband, Jack Tully, she prefers the solitude of her cottage in the woods, accompanied by her loyal yet very grouchy dog: a large Irish wolfhound that appeared the night her husband vanished.
