Earth is still a very young, largely unexplored planet. Meanwhile, the descendants of the Red Man have multiplied substantially and lead communal lives in tribes. In the coastal village of Tabul, guarded by the surrounding woods, a Sethite family is forced to hand over their teenage daughter to four unknown men from a faraway land, for an unusual marriage with a stranger.
