Some time after Buzz Lightyear arrives at Andy's, the family organizes a yard sale during which Woody is stolen by a toy collector, Al. When Buzz and some of the toys learn this, they don't hesitate for a second to go and save him. Meanwhile, at Al's, Woody meets other toys: the cowgirl Jessie, the horse Pil-Poil and the gold prospector Papi Pépite. He then learns that they are all the heroes of a TV series from the 1950s and that Al wants to take them to a museum in Japan.
