Set in Cambodia, “Under the Banyan Tree,” is a short story for Young Readers. Sita Sokhouen has studied and practiced the gestures and movements of the Apsara dancers. When her dream to train with the Royal Ballet comes true, ten-year-old Sita is faced with a difficult decision. Under a banyan tree, Sita makes the decision to sacrifice her dream, to prevent hurting someone she loves.
