There are many different forms of intercessory prayer, but none of them is more powerful than taking God's own words as they are recorded in the sacred Scriptures and turning them against the enemy. In this way, we are actually Warring with the Scriptures .
Jesus is our example, and He used the Word of God in this way. In His darkest hour, when the enemy had come against Him with all of his force (intent on destroying Him before He could even begin His ministry), Jesus refused to use any earthly means of defense. Instead, He turned to His Father's own words and answered back, "It is written ...," and it worked. Jesus was able to resist the enemy's advances and go on to fulfill His calling here on earth. That's how powerful God's words are.
Today, you and I are blessed to have at our disposal this powerful tool--the Word of God in written form in our own language. In the pages that follow I present selected passages from the Scriptures that can be used to fight the enemy when he comes against you. Learn to use them well. Start Warring with the Scriptures , and you, too, will be victorious. -- Jackie Harewood
