Caught in a snowstorm with her horse, Smokey, Clare's only hope of survival is to take shelter in a wilderness cave. Unfortunately, the cave is already home to a pack of wolves! The three adorable puppies are no threat, and neither is their uncle who is injured. However, the very protective mother wolf, who has been using the last of her strength to save her puppies from starvation, isn't one bit helpless. Not only that, but she hates humans; a human killed her mate and injured her brother. And now, she is convinced that Clare will kill her puppies - unless she attacks first!
