As a fairy tale writer, Gavin empowers his protagonists with magic. In real life, he longs to deploy it and wishes to believe in it doubtlessly as his young readers do. He believes his wife has got lost in the Fairyland he creates. He is obsessed to find her there and bring her back. One day, absent-mindedly or desirably he writes his protagonist, Long, out from ancient China through the power of a magic feather he created for this poor painter. Gavin borrows the feather and enters into his imagined story world. Long discovers the power to write someone's fate and has got his chance. But both men are now trapped in a place they don't belong.
